The jungle around Tulum during the last twenty years has become an ̈ecofriendly ̈ paradise among the Mayan Riviera. Every year this place is bringing more than one million tourists searching for holistic, spiritual experience. Nevertheless commercial side of Tulum is also hiding a series of perversions from which consist the tourist empire of the Mexican Carribbean.
However the tourist infrastructure have a high cost for the local environment and its inhabitants. The facilities, that are built in the area of the jungle are illegally occupying protected territory listed as national park. They use diesel generators for delivering electricity, generate a compulsive production of garbage and irresponsible management of wastewater from over 80% of the establishments built in Tulum and contaminates the water tables of the largest underground river in the world the Sac-Actuc.
